Downton Abbey Kindle Ads: Are they spoiling the mood of the period drama? – Mirror.co.uk

Downton Abbey,Äôs fifth series started tonight – and ran straight into Twitter controversy over sponsorship clip for the Kindle.

The, Äúbumper ads,Äù for the Amazon eReader Look Like They feature behind-the-scenes clips of the production of the show, with people in twenties garb on locations similar to the drama secretly using Their Kindles hidden behind scripts and newspapers.

People watching at home say it spoils the mood – you go out from a dramatic scene to a commercial break with a sudden reminder thatthis is just a TV program.

The Amazon Kindle sponsorship isn,Äôt the only problem this series of Downton has had with modern objects intruding into the period drama. There was quite the sensation When a bottle of water appeared, Äúaccidentally,Äù on the mantelpiece of the official publicity shot. We say, Äúaccidentally,Äù, Because, by jolly, That picture did get shared on the web a lot.

ITV

Not very authentic … and possibly not very accidental?

Perhaps Amazon Hope they,Äôll get a similar promotional boost …
