The most readily apparent difference, at least to my eye, is the new, angular look. Gone is the rounded shape on the back of the tablet, replaced by R a new, leveled back. I’m not a big fan of this look. It feels like a throwback to me. I’m reminded of my old, boxy IBM ThinkPad.

Aesthetics aside, some changes have been made here are That Clearly for the good of the tablet. The power and volume buttons, whichwere very flat and both on the right side of the tablet, now look better recessed and flanked the device on either side. The speakers Appear to have been moved to the top of the tablet as well, whichcould help preventable muffling sound When using the tablet in your lap.

According To BGR’s sources, aside from being larger, the 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD design is expected to look identical to the 7-inch model seen here. Both tablets are expected to feature a 2GHz (or higher) quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, a highly modified Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) and options for 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of storage.

The 7-inch slate is expected to feature 1920 x 1200-pixel resolution, while the 8.9-inch tablet shouldhave a 2560 x 1600 display. The larger model May overpriced include an 8-megapixel camera. Just as important as the specs, however, is price, as the new Kindle Fire will be competing against Google’s powerful, Nexus 7 tablet Which starts at ZAR 229.

It is believed That Amazon will announce the tablets within the coming weeks, with the 7-inch Kindle Fire HD being made available for the 8.9-inch model.
