Waterstones surprised many when the company for just over three years ago began selling the Kindle in its stores, as the product can be seen as a competitor to traditional bookstores and books.
According to the online magazine The Bookseller picked now the Kindle down from the shelves because sales according Waterstones “continues to be tragic.” According Waterstones managing director James Daunt, no evidence nor appeared at that Kindle sales will start to take off, and the company therefore decided to grant their shelf space to another.
A spokesman for Amazon says that the company is satisfied with the development of e-book readers and Kindle Fire, and that sales of the Kindle in the UK is growing.
