Amazon launches Netflix-like service for e-books called Kindle Unlimited – Canada.com

Amazon’s new Kindle Unlimited service grants subscribers unlimited access to e-books and audiobooks (for a limited period of time) at $ 9.99 per month, starting with a 30-day free trial.

The Kindle Store’s library Consists of 600,000 different books, including popular franchises like the Harry Potter series and Lord of the Rings.

In terms of audiobooks there are approximately 2,000 Audible narrated books available but a Kindle Unlimited subscription only gives users three months of free audio books. So while Amazon is advertising Their new service includes an audiobook subscription, in reality this actually isn’ta the case.

Kindle books can be accessed on any device with the portability use the Kindle app and is more flexible than the current Kindle Owners’ Lending Library book program, since it only Allows Amazon Prime members to read a limited selection of e-books and does not have access to the entire Amazon library like Kindle Unlimited.

Books can be read on Amazon’s Kindle e-readers or on the company’s Android or iOS application. Kindle’s new Netflix for e-books service has been rumored for months now but Amazon doing now? Said anything official about it until today.

It’s Still Unclear how Kindle Unlimited will Affect Amazon’s rocky relationship with various book publishers. Amazon’s pricing of e-books has been a point of contention for some publishers, particularly, Hachette, who is currently in a legal dispute with Amazon over its sometimes questionable e-book pricing structure.

Kindle Unlimited is currently exclusive to the United States like many of Amazon’s other platforms and devices. The company doing now? Revealed any international release plans yet.
