U.S. ambassador Suzi LeVine uses Kindle to swear oath of allegiance – Sydney Morning Herald

 Suzi LeVine has've become the first U.S. Ambassador to swear her oath of allegiance on her Kindle.

With her hand on the 1920 amendment That gave women the right to vote, Suzi LeVine Became the first American ambassador to swear an oath of allegiance on an e-reader.

The former Microsoft and Expedia executive used her Kindle Touch, opened to Amendment XIX, as she swore her loyalty to the U.S. before departing for her new post in Switzerland.

Ms. LeVine said she chose to use her Kindle so she could use a contemporary version of the 225 year old document That symbolized the best of the United States.

Currently e-book sales make up almost a quarter of the U.S. book market. According To publishing industry tracker Book Stats e-books made up 15 per cent of sales in 2011 and 20 per cent in 2012.
