    Amazon Kindle Paperwhite is out of stock - new models on the way? - Liliputing

    Amazon’s expected to launch a new line of Android tablets this case. But what about the company’s black and white eReader lineup? Is there a new model in the works to replace the Kindle Paperwhite

    Rumors That Amazon is working on an own-brand smartphone to compete with Apple’s iPhone and numerous devices based on Google’s Android platform were resurrected late Thursday. Citing multiple anonymous sources, Bloomberg reported That the Seattle, Washington-based retail giant has plans to Extend its hardware business with an Amazon-brand smartphone That is currently in development with manufacturing partner Foxconn International. Foxconn, the well-known gadget Assemblyman giant, overpriced worked with Amazon on its popular Kindle Fire tablet. Like the Kindle Fire, Amazon’s smartphone would likely be based on a Heavily customized version of Google’s Android operating system. Unlike the company’s tablet, however, Amazon May Employ a drastically different sales strategy That relies on Adding Value rather than undercutting rivals on price.

    Numerous industry watchers agree That the Kindle Fire tablet Became an instant success thanks in large part to the tablet’s rock-bottom pricing. Compared to the $ 499 price tag on the entry-level third-generation iPad, the $ 199 Kindle Fire is a bargain. Even Apple’s discounted previous-generation iPad 2 costs twice as much as the Kindle Fire.

    Reports suggest That demand for the Amazon tablet has since cooled off, however. Shah notes thatthis strategy would indeed be disruptive, but overpriced quite risky in terms of return on investment.

    “Amazon has in the past successfully sold devices bundled with 3G capabilities Such as the Kindle 3G. Further More, in Japan Amazon is acting as an MVNO partnering with NTT docomo and selling prepaid LTE SIM cards & data plans alongwith devices it sells through its online store, “Shah told BGR. “So now if Amazon is planning to enter the smartphone segment, it has to come up with something disruptive at least in terms of Providing more value to the consumers and differentiating itself.”

    Shah notes That his example of including bundled data with a subsidized Amazon smartphone would be aggressive. Giving away free data could be a unique way to lock customers in and Encourage them to buy other Amazon, but it’s risky.

    “This ‘freemium based’ model could work for Amazon but to be Successful the online retailer will have to nail the ROI economics or it could end up being a disaster,” Shah said, Adding That another less aggressive business model might be to partially subsidize monthly data plans for customers who purchase the new phone and subscribe to Amazon Prime.

    Amazon’s goal is Clearly to put hardware devices in the hands of consumers That Make spending money on Amazon products and services as easy as possible. Selling a tablet at little or no margin is one way to accomplish That goal, but the company’s rumored “Kindle phone” may soon explore an Entirely different model.

    Amazon refreshes Kindle Fire Silk browser interface, marking first major ... - The Verge

    Remember Silk, the Amazon included with the original Kindle Fire That promised speedy performance by handing off some of the browsing load onto the company’s powerful server? The company made a lot of noise about the browser When it first Launched two years ago, but today it’s receiving the first major update in nearly a year. A melange of user interface changes make up the update, with redesigned navigation and a simplified new tab page headlining the additions. The latters only shows your most visited sites now, with Pages that are trending across the Kindle Fire community, being relegated to a new menu pane That pops out from the left side of the screen. The controls atop the browser are cleaned up a bit too, with a new, big green button Encouraging users to try the simplified reading view. Additionally, the full-screen browsing option is now activated using a small black tab That Appears at the bottom of webpages.

    While the changes look like a step in the right direction, it’s hard not to be skeptical of the browser team’s statement today that “we’re in the early days of Amazon Silk, and there’s plenty of work still to do.” Silk has always been a bit disappointing: the original version was far from smooth, and the server-side loading never seemed to make an appreciable difference. For its part, the Silk team does say That it’s been rolling out behind-the-scenes improvements over the years, and today’s update is said to introduced some performance upgrades to the browser’s rendering engine.

    In this case, Win and Home keys are the combo That makes it happen. But change is AHK’s middle name-you can have just about anything else you want. “C: a-folder” is just an example: it can be any folder you want opened in fullscreen.

    The sleep line is a near necessity. If it’s not there or if its value is too low, line 4 might not get Acted upon, the first time you try the script, possibly even the second time, or so I’ve noticed on my system. You might need to set it higher still, maybe depending on how many other things your computer has going on at the time.

    Related tip: Within That folder, right-click a blank area and choose “Customize this folder … “, optimize the folder (and subfolders if you want) for pictures. Now, there Should be an extra option in the View menu, called “Hide file names”. Give it a checkmark and the folder’s look will’ve become a lot cleaner.
